Fun for Beach Combers

If you are in town on May 20, you may also be lucky enough to find a piece of art right on the beach that you can take home with you! Lincoln City is celebrating 20 years of its unique Finders Keepers tradition, where colorful glass floats are “hidden” by float fairies along the city’s beaches between Roads End and Siletz Bay during designated times of year. As part of the celebration, an extra 20 floats decorated with the new Explore Lincoln City branding will be hidden along the beach on the 20th of each month.

May 21 will also be a great day to explore the beach for crabs and possibly catch your own dinner! A free crabbing clinic will take place at the pavilion on Southwest 51st Street, in the Historic Taft District, starting at 1:45pm. The clinic will begin with a brief orientation, then you’ll walk down to Siletz Bay to get the crabbing underway. No registration is required but you might want to visit the Explore Lincoln City website for more details.
