More Top Summer Activities to Look Forward to in Lincoln City, Oregon

As detailed in our last blog post, there is plenty to look forward to once the beach house rentals are filled and the beaches open to visitors again in Lincoln City, Oregon. This stretch of the Central Oregon Coast is known for being particularly amenable to vacationers from far and wide thanks to its natural wonders and local culture that offers something for just about everyone. In the first part of this two-part blog series, we detailed the first five of 10 sensational summer activities to look forward to in Lincoln City, including antiquing, art buying and viewing, beachcombing, boating and paddling, and glass blowing. Here are five more activities to look forward to when summer returns to Lincoln City, Oregon:

  • Hiking. Lincoln City is an excellent home base for day trips to remote hiking areas all within a short drive from our beach vacation rentals. Oregon is filled with forests, mountains, lakes, rivers, streams, and even giant craters to explore. There are also several great trails in and around the city itself. Siuslaw National Forest is home to the Drift Creek Falls trail, where you’ll find a lush rainforest and a waterfall reachable by a suspension bridge, as well as the short and family-friendly Hebo Lake Loop trail that encircles the lake. Cascade Head also boasts a treasure chest of wildflowers and wildlife along two different Nature Conservancy trails, and the Cutler City Nature trail offers a nice one-mile trail with lovely views of wetlands and woods. 

  • Kite-Flying. Lincoln City really is famous for many things, and that includes the flying of kites. Every year locals and visitors alike partake in the Annual Fall Kite Festival and Annual Summer Kite Festival at Lincoln City’s D River Beach Wayside. Don’t worry if you’re not in town for these stunning displays of fanciful kites; it’s always a good time to bring your kite or buy a new one to fly on the coast here. The conditions are perfect most days to fly a kite through the skies for long stretches of time.

  • Relaxing. Even if you do nothing but relax in and around your beach house rental, you can still have an amazing time doing next to nothing in Lincoln City. Many of our beach homes and beach condo rentals are mere steps from the sand and sea, and all are close enough to easily get to the beaches on a daily basis. Lincoln City boasts 7½ miles of beautiful beaches to explore at your own pace. Our vacation rentals also boast impressive features such as gourmet kitchens, entertainment centers, game rooms, hot tubs, ocean views, and more. Just think about your favorite ways to relax and make sure you choose a rental that accommodates your needs.

  • Seafood Sampling. The Pacific Northwest is also known for fresh seafood, and local spots such as Mo’s Restaurant overlooking Siletz Bay offer an excellent sampling of the sea’s bounty with beautiful views of the ocean while you dine. From clam chowder and fresh oysters to an array of creative dishes using crab, cod, shrimp, and more, you might find it hard to sample it all. The Pacific Northwest is known for using a variety of local produce in exceedingly creative ways, though, so even if you’re not into seafood you’re sure to find plenty of delicious things to eat.

  • Shopping. Many out-of-state visitors flock to Oregon for the tax-free shopping, and Lincoln City is an excellent place to score some bargains or one-of-a-kind finds. The Lincoln City Outlets offer discounted merchandise from top brands including American Eagle, Bath & Body Works, Coach, Columbia, Eddie Bauer, Gap, Lane Bryant, Levi’s, Old Navy, The North Face, and many more. There are also countless local artisans, gift stores, craft shops, and other unique vendors to find exceptional items that you won’t find anywhere else.

You’re not alone if you’re looking forward to summertime and beach house rentals. Lincoln City, Oregon will be waiting for you when the summer arrives, and when people return to the local beaches and businesses. From secluded coves and seaside cliffs to local arts and culture, there is something for everyone in Lincoln City when summer rolls around. We have narrowed down 10 sensational summer activities in Lincoln City to look forward to, starting with these fabulous five:

  • Antiquing. Lincoln City is known for its high concentration of antique shops and its popular Antique Week that takes place every February. The Little Antique Mall houses 80 dealers, the Taft District and Oceanlake District both have a number of antique shops, and several other antique dealers do business at other locations around town. Antique collectors are bound to leave with something special after visiting this stretch of the Central Oregon Coast.
  • Art Buying and Viewing. There are also countless art dealers, galleries, museums, and studios throughout Lincoln City. The Lincoln City Cultural Center is always a great place for art lovers to start. You could also spend more than a day perusing galleries and studio spaces such as the Artist’s Co-Op Gallery, Artist’s Studio Association, Freed Gallery, Hawk Creek Gallery, Matthew’s Galleries, Mossy Creek Pottery, Ryan Gallery, and The Sparks Gallery. In addition, the North Lincoln County Historical Museum showcases artworks made by indigenous peoples and other cultural artifacts.   
  • Beachcombing. One of the most popular activities in Lincoln City doesn’t cost a thing. There are 7½ miles of spectacular beaches along Lincoln City’s stretch of the Oregon Coast that visitors can spend all day walking on. You can always find a plethora of beautiful agates, fossils, petrified wood, rocks, and shells if you are a patient beachcomber. During certain times and days of the year, though, you can also find colorful glass floats made by local artisans that are dropped in easy-to-find hiding spots by volunteers in the early morning hours. If you find one, make sure to register it and receive a certificate of authenticity!
  • Boating and Paddling. If you’re staying in one of our beach vacation rentals, Lincoln City can be your home base for a number of water sports, including boating and paddling. Head to nearby Devil’s Lake for the day or for overnight camping and partake in a wide array of water sports and recreations, including canoeing, kayaking, motor boating, and water skiing. Siletz Bay is also home to a wildlife refuge where paddlers can take a guided trip through the bay. Equipment is available for rent at Siletz Crabbing & Kayak Rentals, Two Seven Zero Stand Up Paddle Sports, and other local businesses.
  • Glassblowing. Blown glass is a local passion in Lincoln City. Alder House Glass Blowers are the oldest glassblowers in the Pacific Northwest and are known for allowing visitors to watch artists at work. They offer a variety of pieces for sale as well as custom pieces made to your specifications. Volta Glass Gallery also allows you to blow your own glass if you want to have the experience of making it yourself. Other blown glass galleries and shops include Flannigan’s Glass Gallery, Lincoln City Glass Center, Summer Gap, and more. You can even find a blown glass float for sale if you aren’t lucky enough to find one on the beach.
