oregon-ocean-tails

Beach vacation rentals in Lincoln City, Oregon give you the best opportunity for a great beach vacation. And there are loads of things to do in Lincoln City, Oregon, including the longest stretch —seven miles! — of sandy beaches on the Oregon coast.

Day Trips

But once you choose from among our great beach home rentals and you get settled in, you can also choose any of a number of great day trips. Nearby to Lincoln City, Oregon lodging you’ll find hiking trails to breathtaking views, picture-perfect lighthouses, lovely coastal pathways, and more! Here are just a few day trip ideas for your Oregon coast vacation.

Lincoln City Oregon Beach

Yaquina Head Lighthouse

First is the Yaquina Head lighthouse. Yaquina Head lighthouse was first lit in 1873, and its light was made in Paris in 1868. At 93 feet tall, Yaquina is the tallest lighthouse in Oregon, and its light can be seen 19 miles out to sea. The lighthouse is still in use. The grounds include hiking trails to spots with great views, and an interpretive center to help visitors know more of the back story of this historic lighthouse.

Depoe Bay Whale Watching

Another day trip destination — one that is actually on the way between vacation rentals in Lincoln City and Yaquina Head — is Depoe Bay. Depoe Bay has been the setting of scenes in a number of movies, including “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” Depoe Bay also is considered the best place on the Oregon Coast to spot whales.

Otter Crest Scenic Drive

In the same direction as Depoe Bay and Yaquina Head is the Otter Crest Scenic Drive. This four-mile one-way drive offers incredible views of some of the most beautiful natural formations and vegetation on the Oregon coast. Two spots to be sure to stop along the way are the lovely Ben Jones Bridge, and the Devil’s Punch Bowl. This collapsed sea cave has waves from the Pacific come crashing in and swirl around, creating quite a scene of splash and mist and sea foam.

Drift Creek Falls

About a fifteen minute drive from most beach condo rentals in Lincoln City, Oregon is Drift Creek Falls. The hike in and out is just over three miles, and the elevation gain is not much — about 540 feet — so the hike is not strenuous. But the payoff for that gentle walk really is spectacular. The trail winds through a forest of pine, ferns, and other lovely vegetation, until is comes out at a beautiful suspension bridge suspended about 100 feet above the forest floor. And the view from that bridge includes the spectacular Drift Creek Falls. The Falls fall 75 feet down a cliff face.

These are just a few of the many great day trips available from Lincoln City, Oregon beach house rentals. Book your stay today so you can enjoy any or all of these wonders!

More Than Just the Awesome Beach Near Beach Condo Rentals

oregon-ocean-trails

When you come to the Oregon coast, the seven miles of sandy beaches aren’t the only reason to book beach rentals. Lincoln City, Oregon has one of the best strands of sandy beach on the west coast. But that long beach on the Pacific is joined by other awesome aquatic opportunities to the north, south, and east. So when you book vacation house rentals in Lincoln City, Oregon, you’ll have lots of watery options.

To the south is Siletz Bay. A short drive from plenty of excellent beach condo rentals, Siletz Bay takes in the fresh water coming down the Siletz River. It is separated from the wide open Pacific by a narrow spit, and it is teeming with wildlife. Visitor have many opportunities to see shore birds, wading birds, perhaps some salmon, and many other forms of wildlife. Guided kayak tours of Siletz Bay bring the adventurer even closer to much that is inaccessible overland.

oregon-ocean-trails

Siletz Bay is also great for clamming and fishing, according to all ordinances that help conserve the delicate ecosystem. But the rangers at the Siletz Bay National Widlife Refuge stand ready and willing to answer your questions and get you pointed in the right direction. The first step, of course, is getting there. Which means staying at beach house rentals in Lincoln City, Oregon.

Another great place for kayaking, watching wildlife, and other aquatic activities is Devil’s Lake. Devil’s Lake is to the east of Lincoln City, Oregon, and it empties into the Pacific through the very short D River. Like Siletz Bay, it is teeming with life and full of opportunities for freshwater fun. Kayaking, paddling, fishing, and other boating activities are very popular at Devil’s Lake. Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area has great trails for hiking and biking, and some of the trails lead to places where you can get a great view of the Lake and the Ocean — perhaps even to see some whales!

Oregon-Beach-Condo-Rentals-coastal-sunset

The third great place to kayak and experience aquatic fun that isn’t affected by ocean winds and waves is the Salmon River Estuary. This one is to the north, but still fairly near most Lincoln City, Oregon lodging. The Salmon River is a narrow channel for most of its run, but it widens considerably for a stretch before narrowing again to empty into the Pacific. This forms almost a lake, but it has all of the benefits of being a freshwater river flowing by. Fishing, boating, and hiking around the estuary will bring some unforgettable memories.

Of course, the Pacific Ocean has its many opportunities to offer. Learn to surf. Watch for whales. Find shells or glass floats. Or just walk along the seven miles of sandy beach. Find your favorite thing to do, and find it close to Oregon beach rentals!

There are lots of things to do in Lincoln City, Oregon, including aquatic activities that do not involve the ocean! So take the first step: book Oregon coast vacation rentals and come stay near Lincoln City, Oregon!

These predictable, and generally comfortable, conditions make it an ideal place to book for an easy-to-plan stay at any of our beach vacation rentals. Lincoln City, Oregon boasts a climate typical of the region.

But this climate also means the conditions are great for some kinds of vegetation and flowers all along Oregon oceanfront property

Those who stay at Oregon coast beach condo rentals will be able to enjoy spectacular views at the Connie Hansen Gardens. But the Oregon coastal climate is perfect for these flowering shrubs. And at the Connie Hansen Gardens, a short drive from Lincoln City, Oregon beach home rentals, you’ll see all sorts of rhodies — from tiny ones with delicate flowers and small leaves, up to massive ones that are more like trees.

But rhododendrons aren’t all you’ll see at the Connie Hansen Gardens. Lots and lots of azaleas accent the rhodies and giving their own vibrant splashes of color. joining the rhodies and azaleas, and also blooming big in the spring, are irises and other lower flowering plants. Ornamental trees and ground-covering plants complete the look, and guarantee that you’ll love your visit to the Connie Hansen Gardens.

Connie Hansen is an easy drive from Oregon coast vacation rentals, right in Lincoln City, Oregon.

But while the Connie Hansen Gardens provides the best planned and tended garden views  you’ll see, you don’t need to go to a garden to be wowed by the spring flowers. The Oregon oceanfront property and even a mile or five inland sport many species of wild flowers. All along the roadways, across fields, and everywhere the landscape is left to its own devices, flowers will find a way.

You’ll see spectacular species as you go out from your comfortable Oregon vacation home. These include daffodils, crocuses, purple camas, pond lilies, wild iris, coast fawn lilies, Hartwig’s wildginger, and so many others.

Many places along the Oregon coast host events around their flowers. Connie Hansen Gardens  host various events throughout the year, but they’re not alone. Take a look around for other public gardens and communities in easy driving distance from your beach rental — in Eugene, Corvalis, or even Portland, for example — to find events and opportunities.

But lodging in Lincoln City, Oregon is a great place to start. It also is a great place to use as a base for exploring further up and down the Oregon coast. Book your stay at a vacation beach home today, and get ready for a peaceful and colorful vacation!
