  This house had everything one would need for a total beach experience. This place had unstoppable views from the house, deck and hot tub. I especially appreciated the glassed-in hot tub area which was also useful for beach gazing on windy days. Even though the house is fairly small, it provided everything we needed and had a very inviting and warm feel to it. We enjoyed it more with each passing day. The beds were extremely comfortable except that the bottom sheet and mattress pad would work their way off during the night. The fireplace was amazing once we figured out how to start it and warmed the entire house. It was just a matter of jiggling the off/on switch several times. The way the stairs are built (90 of them) makes it doable if one takes their time but there is also a beach access a little ways down the road.
  
  All in all, this house is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone.

  The Submarine is such a treat. I find it difficult to relax. When we stay at a hotel at the beach, I rarely am able to relax - no matter how nice the property is. At the Submarine, I literally started to feel relaxed within minutes of arriving. The hot tub was clean, enclosed in a nice see through wind screen overlooking the ocean and private. The deck is large and again, has amazing views. The neighborhood is also quiet and well kept. The house is small but clean and very well equipped. My only complaint would be the extremely small bathroom but remember this house was built in the 40's. Overall, I'm extremely happy with our experience and we will absolutely be back.

  Our February stay at the Submarine was perfect. The huge deck, hot tub and the amazing view from the all-window west wall make this an exceptional retreat for a small family or two couples. This historic home has elegant updates. The beds are very comfortable and the decor is lovely. The kitchen is well-stocked. Karen, with A-1, is so helpful and responsive.

  The accomodations were wonderful... and I would certainly recommend this home to anyone wanting comfortable accomodations and a spectacular ocean view!
  The folks at A-1 Beach Rentals are easy to work with and easy to reach should anything be unsatisfactory. (We stayed in January during very heavy rain storms and subsequently the roof leaked around chimney and they were prompt in needed repairs.)

  Our stay at The Submarine was the highlight of our Oregon coast vacation! It was very clean & cosy. The Ocean Veiw was perfect!We sat in the hotub sipping wine,& watched the whales.   This is our second stay with an A-1 beach rental. This year we stayed at the Submarine and had the most relaxing and week in this historical home and quiet neighborhood. We shared this home with our friends and it worked out great with plenty of space (just had to share the small bathroom). The ocean view was unbelievable from the deck and spacious dining room. We were able to see whales from the deck. Beachcombing always had it's rewards first thing in the morning and in the evening. Low tide we were able to observe God's creation in the tide pools (starfish, sea anemone and more). Only suggestions would be more towels and dishcloths in bathroom and kitchen. A-1 beach rental was very proactive about our concerns with hot tub and washer and had maintenance come out promptly. We would definately stay again!

  My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Submarine and couldn't have had a better time! The unit feels warm and cozy, with all the amenities we needed for a great stay (LCD TVs, gas fireplace, kitchen essentials, and especially the incredible deck and hot tub). The location could NOT be any better! And we loved the fact that the private stairs lead straight down to a beautiful section of beach with fun tidepools to explore! We didn't want to leave...but we'll be back!

  Wow! When we first pulled up to this place, we knew it is was going to be a wonderful vacation. We almost didn't want to leave the house everyday!     Hot tubs are serviced before each stay. There is a 15.00 charge when a customer calls for additional Hot tub service during their stay.

• The Submarine was cozy and welcoming spot to return to with a fabulous view of the beach. The private stairway to the beach was nice and handy. Loved sitting under the stars in the hot tub hearing the ocean pound the shore. Very special.

  Loved it. Was exactly what we expected. We were warned that it was a "split" house was another rental above the garage. Although a little concerned, it wasn't a problem at all and only saw our neighbors once while they headed to their hot tub. Our hot tub, on the other side of the deck, was perfect with a great view. We'd come back again and bring friends.

  Booked a last minute get away to the coast. The property manager was took care of all my questions. Never having stayed at the submarine rental before, hoped the pic.s were somewhat a match to the real thing.
  Surpassed any and all of our expectations! The house was perfect,well stocked for your everyday needs. The beds were the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on (Slept better then I've slept in years). The view was breath taking. Spent wonderful time at the dinning table playing boardgames and enjoying the ocean. Morning coffee on the deck,and sunsets in the evening.B-B-Q's, hot-tub, and walks along the beach, this will surely be one of my best memories of the cost. Will be using A-1 rentals in all my future tips to the coast, no need to look anywhere else!!!

  The living area, bedrooms, bathroom, and kitchen of the Submarine are serviceable and snug. The sunroom and deck are delightfully roomy and nice. The stairs to the beach are well-made and the hike is worth it. We saw lots of wildlife, too: whale spouts, two eagles, and a harbor seal pup.

  We had an amazing time in this house. It was just my husband and I, but I would love to bring the rest of the family sometime. The house was immaculate, the ad for the house was accurate, the weather was really bad - stormed entire time. It didn't matter, we still went down to the beach, still had a cozy refuge and still sat in the hot tub. The people in this area are friendly and helpful and from what I saw, this is the place to stay for the best beach views. Spectacular sunset! Loved it!

  The names of the three separate units are quite confusing. The Submarine which I now believe refers to both the downstairs unit and the upstairs not remodeled older house on the top floor. The Anchor House is the smaller apartment that is attached to the upstairs home. I was confused thinking the Submarine only included the downstairs unit so I couldn't make my request very clearly. I'm just thinking if you're going to rent those three units separately they need three names. I absolutely love staying in that old funky beach house. I'm sorry it is going to be remodeled. There is a charm to that old house. I totally get why you want to remodel it though and I'm sure it will be beautiful when it's finished. Thank you again, CB

  This was a perfect Fall Break stay for us. The Anchor House was so comfortable and perfectly appointed for us. My daughters loved the cozy loft and its beautiful decor. The kitchen was clean and stocked with plenty of dishes and cutlery. The bathrooms were also nice and clean and it was so nice to have plenty of towels. The cozy sitting room with fireplace was a perfect place to watch the waves and be with family. The hot tub situated on the patio overlooking the ocean waves both day and night was a heavenly extra. We also appreciated being so close to Newport (sea lions!) and Depoe Bay (saw several gray whales!). All around a wonderful experience.. and we were only there 3 nights! We will definitely be back.   We stayed at anchor house for 3 nights. It was a highlight of our trip. Anchor house was very clean and quaintly decorated. The view was spectacular. Having multiple decks, your own hot tub overlooking the ocean and stairs down to the beach made it all a very wonderful experience. We didnt use the submarine house but if our party was larger it is a nice feature. It was quiet and peaceful. We can't wait to come back!!!

  This property is well maintained, however it is an older house. If you believe in rustic charm, this house is perfect! The older house should not be a determent to the most fantastic location on the Oregon coast! The limited public access to that stretch of beach makes it feel like you have your own private beach! The huge deck and private staircase are toped off with a jacuzzi that has a wind proof glass and a fence that makes it private while offering excellent views of the beach.

  This was a very cozy little home with a wonderful view in a quiet neighborhood. We had a very nice vacation. We were not expecting the staircase to the beach to be quite as long as it was, but it was nice to have the access right out the back door. We didn't need to use the loft, but I could see a teenager really enjoying it! We also enjoyed the hot tub!

  we had a great time, the size was nice, the deck was AWESOME! we got to sit and have coffee every morning and watch the whales! the only thing that was wierd at all was the hall way to the master room, a little creepy with how old the house was. and we had RUDE neighbors renting next door to us. otherwise, we had a great time...and i plan on using A-1 rentals next time i rent at the beach! the staff was very sweet!

  We have rented at least six A-1 beach homes and have found them all top notch, even the older ones, like Anchor House, which has some rich history! Even though the floor plan is funky ~ the view is awesome & the house cozy & warm, plenty of room for privacy.
