  My husband and I wanted to get away at the beach with our son and wife and three granddaughters (all under age 5) so...rented this cottage-house! We had a rollicking time together! Gorgeous views from living room, kitchen and backyard, super fun roasting marshmallows out at the chimneyed firepit, watching the stars, listening to the crashing waves below. The big boys rented wet suits and went body sufing and had a very wild and wacky bonding time. Lots of rooms and beds and places to escape from snireres and late night tv watchers and crying toddlers. You'll love it. Very kitschy decor!

  This was a nice house. The porch swing, hot tub and burning pit was awesome. I also loved the deck. I wasn't aware the living room was upstairs and the kitchen separate downstairs but it worked.

  Overall a great place to stay, jacuzzi was nice, kitchen was well stocked with pots/pan/utensils etc, it was also great to be able to BBQ. This was a great place for my family to stay. The plumbing downstairs is pretty slow moving, but we didn't have any
  major issues. One bedroom downstairs doesn't have a window that opens, which would have been nice. Would stay here again. Thanks!

  (Unfortunately we had the impression from what we were searching for and the photos that the house was right on the beach. We'd prefer one like that. Porthole was a block or so from the beach. It did have a great view of the ocean, which we enjoyed.

  The stay at the Porthole was very good. It was a birthday weekend for my wife and the kids and grandkids really enjoyed their stay. Location was great with a terrific view. The house had a cozy flavor and felt warm. The downstairs plumbing could use some attention, but everything worked. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

  The house is in a great location, beautiful view. It was perfect for spring break with teens. They could play on the beach and walk to the movie theater. My only issue was they have a nice big screen TV, but the cable connection was terrible.

  The only issue we had was that the coffee maker quit working on the second day and the oven did not function correctly as the temp control did not function correctly. Other then these the facilities were great.

  We really enjoyed this house. The view was incredible. The furniture was clean and comfortable. The hot tub and outside fireplace were a big hit with the kids. We loved that we needed the key to lock/unlock the front door. The kids could not escape without us knowing. The house is old, but has lots of charachter. We loved it! The only negatives would be the small bathrooms and difficult beach access (for small children) below the property. We found easier access a short 3 block drive. Exploring the beach at low tide was great fun. We couldn't believe all the starfish! We will be back.

  the place was great. It would have been nice to have some deck chairs for the upstairs deck/balcony. We whale watched from the lower patio, such beautiful weather and really no place upstairs(outside)to enjoy. The downstairs toilet needs a little work. Maybe leave a plunger available in case of emergencies. Overall a great time was had by all. The furniture in living room was very comfortable and we all really enjoyed our time spent at the Porthole. Upon our arrival we found a lot of cigarette butts outside next to the hot tub. You might want the cleaning crew to look under beds and maybe vaccuum under them. We look forward to renting from you again next year for our girls weekend...

  We had a family reunion at the Porthole in March and the house was amazing! The view was so beautiful it seemed as though we were ON the water! The house was very family friendly and inviting. Every night we bonded either over a roaring fire or watching the waves while soaking in the hot tub. It was great house and a great experience that my family will remember for many years to come. I hope to stay in the house for the next one!

  The house is very comfortable with a great view. A upper deck and a lower patio (with hot tub) provide a great view of the ocean. The walking access to the beach is a little steep but there are no roads to cross. All in all, a fun house to stay in.

  Great place for a weekend stay. We especially loved the view and the deck for watching the Pacific. I would not recommend for families with toddlers because of the steps, etc. No good place for them to play but otherwise a terrific place.

  Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay at the Porthole. The division of space within the house worked well for three generations (including young kids) staying together. We loved having lunch on the upper deck, making S'mores with the chimnea, and relaxing in the hot tub. One of the main drawbacks was that the screen door leading from the kitchen to the lower porch was missing its screen, necessitating having the main door shut even during nice weather.

  We did have a wonderful time but had a few disapointments that were not clearly disclosed before our stay and the photos were deceiving. I was very happy that my inlaws who were supposed to stay with us were not able to make it. The kitchen was downstairs and that would have been difficult for them to go up and down the stairs and they would not have been able to walk down the steep hill and climb down to the beach...that should be something FULLY disclosed before spending that type of money to stay I even asked the agent and was told it was a lot away, well, that wasnt the whole truth. it was straight down to it and a difficult climb. The view was wonderful and the weather cooperated fully. We had a great time and we would go back knowing now what we were going to.
