  Several of us gals spent a weekend getaway at A Roads End Beach House. It is located in a quiet area of town but is very conveniently located to grocery and whatnot shopping. The house was clean and there was enough comfortable seating for several people there. Also, the view of, and access to, the ocean was fabulous.

  We have stayed at Heathergate for many years and love it and the location. We do bring some of our own things like sharp knives. The glass cuttingboards tend to dull the knives, so we donated a plastic one to save on our knives. All in all, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

  A couple of small issues. The upstairs shower still has a problem with rattling pipes. Woke everyone in the house up. As you turn the shower handle to hotter water is when it happens. The shower spurts water after you get to that point and is very loud. Knives in the kitchen are dull. Other than these minor issues it was great.

  Ten of us stayed for a week in July and we all really enjoyed the home. The view was incredable. Great assortment of cookware in newer condition. If you have people with mobility issues please note that there are stairs (3 stairs into the house;3 stairs onto the deck; full sized staircase from the living area to all bedrooms downstairs; 12 or so stairs to the beach from the house). Plenty of room to go off on your own. Two of the bedrooms are pretty small and only 2 rooms with closets to hang clothes so don't overpack! We had great weather which made the house pretty warm inside. A few of the windows opened but not the best ventilation. just a few things to be prepared for but nothing to keep you from enjoying the great location and view.

Kitchen was open and we cooked most of our meals. Lots of big, comfy couches to sit and relax in.   Older home-nothing fancy but nice warm feel. A few glitches (hot water pilot light was off when we arrived, older small kitchen kept popping circuit breaker when we used a fry pan, wi-fi was extremely spotty, and a rather noisy furnace fan ran constantly), but the overall experience more than made up for these. I had mentioned to mgt I was going to BBQ. They must have checked condition of BBQ because there was a brand new BBQ waiting for us! We have rented from A-1 several times and the homes have been nice and management team very helpful. Well run operation.

  We always enjoy our stay. Just a couple of notes: 2 of the stove burners would not light w/o a match.
  We noticed some long hairs on the sheets, but I think it is because of not using cling free sheets in the dyer. It seemed that everything was full of static. The bedroom fireplace was not working and someone came and fixed it fairly promptly.

  This was our second stay at Roads End. It is a great place for our family to get together (we live in different states). We love having family meals in the dining room over looking the ocean a beautiful view. The family room is great for family evenings. Great that there is plenty of seating for all. The kitchen is small but we usually had 3 cooks in there at all times so it works. Would sugguest if you are going to be doing a lot of cooking to bring your own knifes. The knifes provided are poor quality & don't cut well. We love this house & will be back again. My daughter is already planning on returning for a couples weekend there. So a good time was had by all. On another note if anyone in your party will be going fishing the extra drive to Newport in bad weather is worth it. Getting out & into the harbor in Depot bay was a little scarey.

  You can get much better than this! Right 'on top'; of the stunning. If I had to find something wrong (lol) it would be the wifi connection - it was pretty unstable. We were trying to work while there and it was difficult. If it wasn't important, it wouldn't have really mattered. The point is to be at the beach to relax, right?!

  Great Patio overlooking the beach and courtyard for BBQ Can't beat the view; all but one bedroom has beach view and the upstairs living room has a wall of windows facing the ocean. There is a little brick courtyard that's has a bbq and everything you need except charcoal. The gate that goes from the parking area into the courtyard locks which is nice so you feel a little more secure. The deack outside has several adirondack chairs overlooking the beach. FYI: This deck is directly overhead the master bedroom and the sound travels down well. THere's also their own private stairwell to the sand.
  
  Living room has gas fireplace and enough furniture to seat 8 comfortably. Dining area takes up the North part of the living room and therefore you get great views while eating too.
  
  Theatre room is a good 400sq ft or so; maybe more. It has three couches for good seating and true surround sound that works pretty well. There's an electric organ/piano tucked in the corner. Washer and Dryer are in theater room behind folding doors.
  
  All the bedrooms are kind of small but are cozy and clean. The master has a sliding glass door for quick beach access and it's own gas fireplace.
  
  The downside: You could park four cars as advertised but it would be tough. Full sized pickups (w/o a lift) barely fit under the carport and have to be parked diagnally or they'll hang into the street. There is parking for two cars just outside the carport but a tree grows in the middle making it a little tighter; all in all not a big deal.
  
  Obviously the coast is rough on a house and theres ample evidence of water damage on the ceiling. There's a pamphlet in the house that says to use bowls to collect dripping water if it happens. It didn't happen to us but I'd be worried about dryrot and mold eventually.
  
  Gas fireplaces: They stopped working and not sure why. Pilot was out on both and couldn't get it to relight. We didn't call 'cause it wasn't

    There was a leak last year but was repaired along with a new roof. The fireplace pilot was blown out during the wind storm in November. Gene stopped by to relight for the guests....thought it was fixed. Upon seeing this review we'll work to get it up and running quickly.

  We loved the location of this property! Just steps to the beach... The layout of the home was great, although we wished the kitchen was a bit bigger when it came to meal preperation time. We spent a girls weekend scrapbooking and had a fabulous view! The kids were a bit dissapointed in the TV when it was movie time in the evening. It really needs to be replaced or serviced. It is a big screen, but the picture is faded. It would be nice to have a stereo in the living room as well. The listing said it had a CD player and we were not able to find it. We found the property management staff to be very friendly and helpful in planning our trip, during our stay and afterwards. We would deffinitley use A-1 Beach Rentals again.

  We loved this house's location, view and size. The mattresses were okay, not great but not terrible. The water pressure and showerhead in the downstairs bathroom should be better. The floors were dusty, especially around the furniture upstairs. The kitched had a newer stove but could be better. We loved the oversize furniture in the livingroom - plenty of seating for our party of 8.

  Their were 7 of us staying there for the weekend and it was fantastic! Loved how we could walk right onto the beach. All the bedrooms are downstairs so the people that wanted to go to bed early were not disturbed. We hung out on the deck most of the time because it was a beautiful view.

  This comment is just for the company. We have stayed at Stairs to the Sea, Heathergate and Roads End. There are a few beds that need better mattresses and the only other suggestion I would make is to try to add dressers to the bedrooms or put them in the bedroom closet.

  Loved looking out the picture windows, spectacular sunsets and being so close to the beach and tidal area. Downstairs bathroom a bit dark. bedrooms small but the living room/dining area made up for any discomforts. Would stay there again.

  This is our favorite place to stay on the Oregon coast. Lots of room, comfortable, superb beach and ocean watching location. Have enjoyed watching sea lions, whales, kite surfers, and people on the beach by just sitting in the living room. Have already reserved it for next summer.

  As you walk through the front door you are greeted with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Growing up and living in Kansas you learn to appreciate every opportunity to spend time on the coasts. The house and decor are a little dated, but everything is in great shape and very clean. My memories are especially great, because I proposed to my wife on the beach during our stay. We cannot wait for the opportunity to return.

  The only negative comment I have is that the living room was all windows looking over the ocean - they were wonderful but would have been FANTASTIC had they been clean. The windows should be cleaned regularly inside and out. But, having said that, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again! Thank you! PS We only spoke to the property manager during reservations - not check in or out - but they were friendly and efficiant on the phone during the reservation process
